Learn from the Master’s Pace

If you’re already feeling overwhelmed and soul-weary by the weight of a new year — with resolutions, responsibilities and demands — learn from the Master’s pace. Yoke up with Jesus to walk step by step and side by side with Him… in ways He modeled for us when He walked the earth 2,000 years ago.

5 Keys to Finding Rest for Your Soul

  1. Seek God’s kingdom first.
“‘But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’” – Matthew 6:33
  2. Spend time alone with the Father — in the word and in prayer.
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” – Luke 5:16
  3. Pray for His will, not your way.
“Saying, ‘Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.’” – Luke 22:42
  4. Look for ways to serve others.
“After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.” – John 13:5
  5. Give thanks in every situation, trusting that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28

Jesus was never rushed and was always willing to go out of His way to be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, even when it was inconvenient. Yet, He was still right on time for every divine appointment and never missed an opportunity to bring glory to the Father.

Let Us Pray…

Father God,

Thank You for giving me another year to experience Your goodness, to share the good news of Jesus Christ, and to demonstrate Your love to others that they might come to a saving knowledge of You. Father, I ask You to bring to my remembrance all the times and the many ways in which You have provided for me and my family, and have turned even bad circumstances for my good.

Help me to reflect on Your goodness and faithfulness, and to keep my eyes on Jesus rather than the storms that surround me.

I pray that You would give me Your heart for serving others and a desire to follow Your will rather than my own. I trust that as I seek Your kingdom first and its righteousness, that You will take care of the other needs in my life.

Thank You for making a way to be forgiven of my sins and reconciled to You through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. I confess that Jesus is the Son of God and God the Son, the Lord of my life and Savior of my soul. May I be used to bring You glory today.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen
